Box of Joy

A group of women throughout Osage County have started a group call Osage County Faith in Action. This group contains many women who are faith filled and want to give back to our parishes, communities, country, and even the other side of the world.
Our group is led by Angela Stuecken of Freeburg, MO parishioner of St. Joseph in Westphalia and the motto of our group is Feed, Lead, and Protect; and we are doing just that with our first group project. Along side of the Cross Catholic Outreach program, we have obtained 1000 boxes, the size of a shoe box, they call Box of Joy. These boxes are used to bless underprivileged children around the world. A Box of Joy is a Christmas shoebox that is donated and packed with toys, clothing, school supplies and other essential items by our group. Each child who receives a Box of Joy also receives a rosary and a booklet in their own language that tells The Story of Jesus. Box of Joy provides hope to children in need, each gift represents Christ’s love, and may be the only Christmas gift they receive.

We ask for volunteers to fill a box with necessities of a child and donate $10 for shipping and additional purchases. $9 is shipping cost and $1 will be used to purchase additional supplies to fill each box to the max. If you are not a shopper and want to participate by making a monetary donation that is no problem either, we have people who have volunteered to shop for you.
The parishes of Osage County have taken on the challenge of filling 1000 boxes during what we are calling Christmas in July. At the end of July each box will be checked and be prepared to be packaged for shipment. Parishes currently involved are: Freeburg, Westphalia, Argyle, Rich Fountain, Koeltztown, Loose Creek, Folk, Meta, Babtown, & St. Thomas. If your parish is not yet involved and would like to join, please reach out, we are always looking for more people to join, including men.
In the Fall our second community project will be to Feed the Hungry. Stay tuned for more information.
